Country in the City

There is a wheat field close to our house (we're pretty sure it's wheat). I was driving by it yesterday and it looked to be just about Dane's height...Can you say Photo Op? After his nap, we were heading to a birthday party for one of his ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) friends and tried to take some pictures on the way.

The lighting was absolutely incredible. There was a little, but mighty, thunderstorm coming, yet it was sunny just in front of and behind it.

I thought it would be fun to get pictures of Dane walking thru the field, but when we got there, he wanted no part of it. I was able to get a couple shots of him wandering around the side of the field. These next two shots show just how magical the light was.

Shelly grabbed Big D and brought him into the field; his disdain for the whole situation grew incredibly and the tears started rolling big time. Shelly did a great job of consoling him. We were only there for about 5 minutes and before it started absolutely pouring.

Hard to believe this gigantic field is just outside our neighborhood.

Wait a minute...I love, love those pictures. so clever. And, love that y'all are wearing green and match the crop.

What wonderful photos! I guess we now know, though, that Dane probably won't want to be a wheat farmer when he grows up, having been forever traumatized at the tender age of 16 months! Too bad, there's big money in farming!

those are gorgeous...you guys are really getting good with the camera. I love Dane's curls too!

Nana!!! You and I have the same sense of humor. I was going to comment that this will be good for Dane and keep him away from carbs. I always saw him more a cattle/protein guy myself.

Having grown up in CA I haven't seen anything like that before. Dane looks so grown up.

Hans... Actually I thought you and I had already decided that Dane would probably become a professional stunt man... if he inherits his mommy's gymnastic skills and his dad's daredevil nature, he can't miss!

Nana, you are correct again. Let's just hope the stunts have nothing to do with crop circles.

Hans, your sense of humor is precious. I think I will adopt you... you crack me up!

NANA!!! Let's work something out!!! My people will send your people my list of demands. As Matt and Shelly may have mentioned, I don't come cheap. ;)

Hans - I wonder if anyone who reads these posts (even tho we've already established that we are probably the only ones who ever go back and read them) is as amused by our discourse as we are? Probably not! But it's still fun! Maybe we should start our own blog/message board? Has to have a catchy title, though... Demands? I don't generally respond well to demands!

Much like Super Bowl ads, our blog comments are similar to entertaining commercials between Dane's posts. Who wouldn't love them? As far as my "demands," they are negotiable. My parents didn't (and still don't) care for them either but after a little discussion we compromise.... Typically they win which is why the adoption plan sounded like a great deal. We can discuss furhter when we set up our own blog... "Nana's New Son."

Hans,

The Budweiser frogs were always my favorites. Those were classics, and never, in a thousand Super Bowls, will the creators of commercials surpass the froggies... and I don't even drink beer!

Somehow, Hans, I don't think you and I will ever be as entertaining as the Budweiser frogs... so we'd all better hope Shel & Matt get on the ball and post some fresh Dane shots for us to comment on! (Listen to me... my own mundane blog is hopelessly out of date and I whime cause we haven't had new Dane photos in a week)!?!?!
