Girls Weekend in Chicago (with a small forward about Dane :)

Before I tell you all about my fabulous girls weekend in Chicago, I must mention that Dane is feeling a little better. His nose is still running and his cough is hanging around...but his energy is back in full force! Of course his energy returned right as Matt & I became sick with Dane's cold. Yep, all 3 of us were affected by his pesky little bug. And those of you who have taken care of a baby while being sick understand that it is torture! Luckily, Matt stayed home from work, so the two of us were able to take turns watching Dane. The majority of "watching Dane" involved walking around the house hand-in-hand. Or I guess I should say finger-in-hand. Dane's latest favorite past time is grabbing one of our fingers and then leading us around the house for laps. Mind you, he CAN walk on his own. We have seen him do it several times. However, he prefers to take one of us with him on his walking escapades. Here's a quick pic of him strolling with Matt.

Now onto the girls weekend! I had the opportunity to spend an entire weekend in Chicago with Jan and Wendy. It was a relaxing trip filled with shopping, coffee, great food and lots of walks throughout the city. It was wonderful seeing family. And it was wonderful sleeping in! Here we are at Brazzaz Brazilian Steakhouse.

The only downside to the Windy City this time of year is the freezing temperatures. What, you say? A Minnesotan complaining about warmer Chicago? YES!!! I'm used to downtown Minneapolis, which has miles and miles of skywalks connecting the buildings. Once you park your car, you never have to step foot in the cold. Not so in Chicago. And it was COLD. But we braved it and had a great time walking through the city. Here are Jan and I in front of a cool fire station (I think...it was too cold to stop and read the building sign :-).

And here is a picture of Lake Michigan from the top of the Hancock Center. Brrr...the water looks cold!!
