I then reminded him that it was his birthday and he replied, "Yes, it's my birthday, but I'm still three." I responded, "No, Dane you're now 4." To which he reasoned, "No, I'm still three because I haven't had my cake yet." Oh, wouldn't that be nice. I'd forgo cake for many years if it meant I didn't have to age.

Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro...
Happy Birthday Dane. We cannot even believe our oldest is a 4 year old.
I went into his room at 6:39am to take his picture (our annual tradition), thought he was asleep and just as I was about to snap one, he whispers, "Dad, what are you doing?" He quickly figured it out and tried to pose. Sweet Birthday Hair Dane!
This year, Dane really understood the simple equation...Birthday = Presents. He loved opening them and was grinning from ear to ear the entire time.
He got a hockey helmet with a facemask...though it appears that the helmet is too small. He requested one after he face-planted on the ice last Oct. If you ask him what happened, he'll nonchalantly tell you, "Daddy, pushed me over!"
